• Golden Island Cruise

Crew was nice and helpfull, a Lot of Food on the Boat Trip. Itinery was nice and well planes with stattgibt Point lombok.
Boat was Not as luxurious as hoped. In Our Deluxe sea View Cabin the Windows were broken ( 2 did Not Open, one did Not Close). Smell of gasoline during the Night which caused headaches.
The Deck Chairs did Not all have a cushion, so Nobody used it because it is too Hard.
Time of meals could be Annonced in the Briefing so you get a warm meal and do bot miss it. Smoking everywhere, a Non Smoking area would be nice to have
We would do the Cruise again but would Take a different much nicer ship.

• Golden Island Cruise

Die Tour war super. Die Natur, die Crew, das Programm , das Essen , das Gruppenerlebnis, die Atmosphäre war alles toll und beeindruckend. Wir haben die unvergessliche Zeit auf der Menanie sehr genossen.

Es gab allerdings ein Problem mit unserer Deluxe Seaview Kabine Nr 3..Die Deluxe Seaview Kabinen Nr.1 und Nr.2 liegen auf der anderen Bootsseite und haben dieses Problem nicht.
Die Fenster unserer Kabine waren über dem Auspuff und deshalb zugenagelt und verfugt worden. Ein Fenster wurde auf unseren Wunsch hin wieder zum Öffnen gemacht. Allerdings konnten wir nur wenn der Motor aus war oder der Wind günstig stand lüften. Ansonsten waren in unserer Kabine viele Duftsteine verteilt die einen unerträglichen Geruch abgaben, sodass wir nur bei offener Kabinentür schlafen konnten. Dadurch hatten wir nicht den gebuchten privaten Raum und einen schlechten Schlaf.

• Golden Island Cruise

We did the tour from Lombok to Flores on the "Menami" Deluxe ship and had a "Deluxe Sea View Cabin A/C". First of all we were impressed by the good organization of the trip. Everything went very smooth and we left the port in Lombok even a bit early. Our cabin was roughly as advertised. It was clean and with fresh linen / beddings, the A/C worked well and the windows could be opened. The starlink Wifi worked surprisingly well and was very stable throughout the whole trip.

The food was very good and never the same (exception was pancakes on two mornings). There were always some vegetables and fruits with the meals and the portions were big enough. They also provided cookies as snacks throughout the trip.

The crew was friendly and helpful. We felt well informed and had a good sense of what's going on and what our next stop and activity will be. We appreciated the briefing at the main office where we got a rundown of the tour and everyone was asked to respect nature and the animals and to not touch them.

The stops were amazing and we reached everyone of them in time. So there was no need to rush and we had enough time to enjoy each destination fully. It was a great mix of water and land activities (snorkeling/swimming, beach, short hikes and nice viewpoints). The whalesharks were attracted by a fisher boat which pumped food-infused water into the ocean (this was also communicated at the briefing in the main office).

The condition of the ship was a bit so-so. On one hand we really liked our cabin and I was impressed with the fact that one bathroom even had tiled floors and walls. On the other hand you could see that it had it's best days behind it and is kept alive by frequent patching and a lot of duct tape. The toilet flushes were broken a couple of times but were mostly fixed again soon after. Unfortunately the Menami is a little stinker with thick, smoky exhaust coming out on both sides of it's rear end. This was very unpleasant when staying in the rear area of the boat and especially when boarding the ship's little tender. Apparently for some guests, the smoke was also coming into their cabin via the window. We had a different, but similar problem with our cabin: it had a strong diesel smell. It felt a bit like sleeping with an open bottle of diesel in the room. It was quite unpleasant. Apparently the crew tried to remedy this with a whole load of scent bars in our room. Of course this doesn't help but makes the issue even worse as it only tries to cover up the bad smell by throwing different more bad smell at it (a matter of taste, of course). It does not address the underlying problem of sleeping in a room of potentially harmful diesel fumes. Anyway, it definitely messed with my sleep and I did not sleep very well. Several people on the ship had the same issue in their cabins. We have brought this issue to the attention of Golden Island Cruises and they promised to investigate and fix the issue. Let's hope they follow through with it so that future travellers may have an awesome Komodo trip without the diesel fumes in their cabins.

All in all this was an unforgettable trip with nice people and gorgeous stops. For me, the "diesel" issue was the only point of complaint (but a strong one for me).
